DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival takes place annually in January in Helsinki, Finland and in Tallinn, Estonia. In 2018 DocPoint will be organised 17th time.
DocPoint-elokuvatapahtumat ry organizes DocPoint Helsinki Documentary Film Festival, the year-round, national documentary film event for children and youth DOKKINO, the monthly Doc Lounge Helsinki clubs and documentary film impact producing project DocPoint IMPACT.
Founded in 2001, DocPoint Helsinki is one of the largest documentary film festivals in the Nordic countries. In Finland, it is the only festival solely dedicated to documentary films. DocPoint expanded to Tallinn in 2010, which makes DocPoint the world’s only festival happening in two countries at the same time.
The aim of DocPoint is to give the people an opportunity to see some of the most talked-about documentary films of the past year. It is also a prestigious venue for Finnish documentary film. DocPoint’s New Finnish Documentary Films Selection includes annually some of the most anticipated premieres of the year.
In addition to film screenings, DocPoint includes also seminars, lectures, clubs and a Masterclass. A Documentary Film Event for Children and Youth called DOKKINO has also been an essential part of DocPoint since the beginning of the festival.
The 15th DocPoint took place on 25th – 31st Jan 2016. Over 30 000 visitors participated in the festival screenings and side events.
The next edition of DocPoint takes place in Helsinki and Tallinn on Jan 29th – 4th Feb 2018.
