DocPoint Encounters invites you to an inspiring discussion about alternative storytelling techniques in Documentary film
Can documentary content influence contemporary social phenomena? What can happen if the audience is encouraged to participate? Is it possible to turn a documentary into a meaningful and entertaining gaming experience? How do all of the above influence digital distribution strategies and what does it all mean? These and many other topical questions will be discussed and answered by international experts and the participants of the DocPoint Encounters on 26th Jan 2012.
DocPoint Encounters is the first in a series of four festival seminars aimed at film and media professionals. The seminars deal with new and innovative means of film narration, financing and distribution. The Encounters seminars are held during the spring and organized in co-operation with Tampere Film Festival and Loikka Festival.
The DocPoint event in January concentrates on alternative storytelling techniques in Documentary film. The speakers include i.e. Adam Gee, award-winning producer at Channel 4, and writer and game Scriptwriter Matt Costello. During the day, Producer Kaarle Aho and Director Tonislav Hristov will present an award-winning cross-media project Love and Engineering, which is currently in production. Ove Rishøj Jensen from EDN will moderate the seminar.
The participants of DocPoint Encounters have the possibility to showcase their own projects, as well as receive feed-back from the international experts in one-to-one meetings. To request a meeting please follow the instructions on the seminar sign up page.
Encounters is organised in collaboration with AVEK, The British Council, The Finnish Documentary Guild, Filmkontakt Nord, Pirkanmaa Film Centre, University of Tampere and YLE.
DocPoint Encounters is held on Thursday 26th Jan 2012 at 9:30 am – 5 pm Ateneum Hall (Kaivokatu 2). The event is free of charge.
